27 Oct 2026
The 2026 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge and Davis Cup Junior Finals take place from 2-8 November. But what are the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge and Davis Cup Junior Finals exactly? Here is your one-stop guide:
- The Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Junior Finals are our premier international team competitions for players aged 16 and under. While Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup are for professional women’s and men’s players respectively, Billie Jean King Cup Juniors and Davis Cup Juniors are for junior girls and boys respectively.
- How are these competitions different to the World Tennis 14&U Junior Finals that took place in August? The competitions are similar, but for different age groups. The Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Junior Finals are for players aged 16 and under whereas the World Tennis 14&U Junior Finals are for players aged 14 and under – as the name suggests. It is quite possible for players to represent their nation at the World Tennis 14&U Junior Team Finals and either the Billie Jean King Cup or Davis Cup Junior Finals in the same season.
- Sixteen nations contest the Billie Jean King Cup Junior Finals and 16 nations contest the Davis Cup Junior Finals. Fifteen of the 16 teams at either Finals navigated qualifying to get there. Egypt have qualified automatically for both the Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Junior Finals by virtue of being the host nation. The aforementioned qualifying takes place across five regions – Asia/Oceania, Europe, Africa, South America and North/Central America and the Caribbean.

- The 2026 competitions began in February with pre-qualifying for both events in the North/Central America and the Caribbean region. Across both pre-qualifying events, teams from Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and US Virgin Islands competed. This level of representation was repeated across the world. The competition really is a global affair which reflects the World Tennis ethos: rackets in hands, playing opportunities and national player development, all part of a strong talent pathway.
- The Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Junior Finals will this year break new ground by taking place in Africa for the first time. The Finals will be played alongside each other on the clay courts of the Smash Sporting Club in Cairo. Over the past decade, Hungary, the United States, Turkiye, Spain and Chile have staged the event, with Chile hosting most recently on the clay of Santiago’s Estadio Nacional.

- Both Finals will be contested as four round-robin groups of four teams over the first three days of play, followed by a rest day and then the knockout stages. Ties consist of three matches – two singles matches and one doubles match.
- As they will be competing against players from nations all around the world, these Finals will give players a taste of international team competition – for some, it may be their first taste. There is very much a developmental flavour to these Finals – on and off the court – which is hugely beneficial to players as their careers develop and progress.
- Who are some of the big modern-day players to have competed at the Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup Junior Finals? Previous winning teams have featured the likes of Rafael Nadal, Ashleigh Barty, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff and Joao Fonseca. All eight of those players have proceeded to represent their nations in either Billie Jean King Cup or Davis Cup at senior level.
- The United States won both events last season. It is worth noting that Jordan Lee was a member of their Davis Cup Juniors team. The 16-year-old has this season progressed along the player pathway and in July was crowned Wimbledon boys' singles champion. Only last week, he won the boys' title at the 2026 World Tennis Tour Junior Finals.
Each day in Cairo, ties will be livestreamed. In the meantime, why not catch some of the other wonderful junior tennis that has taken place this year.
