Wong secures milestone maiden ITF World Tennis Tour title
Coleman Wong ended Hong Kong, China’s 12-year wait for a male singles champion on the ITF World Tennis Tour after collecting his first professional singles title at M15 Monastir.
The 19-year-old, who climbed as high as No. 11 in the ITF Junior rankings last October after reaching the boys’ singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon and the semi-finals at the US Open, took another confident stride forward in his tennis development.
Wong has enjoyed a fine fortnight in Tunisia having reached back-to-back finals – first finishing runner-up to Hady Habib on 18 June before going the distance on Sunday, defeating Luca Giacomini 6-3 5-7 6-1 in the title match.
