Mirjam Bjorklund claimed the biggest title of her career – and first on grass – after triumphing on the ITF World Tennis Tour at W100 Ilkley.

The 24-year-old Swede defeated Emma Navarro 6-4 7-5 in the final to secure her 10th ITF singles title and first above W25 level.

“It’s been an amazing week - I’m super happy with the win,” said Bjorklund, who dropped just seven games en route to the semi-finals and then fought past 2022 champion Dalma Galfi to set up a shot at the title in West-Yorkshire.

Bjorklund becomes the fourth Swedish player to win a W100 title on the ITF World Tennis Tour and the first in over five years – since Rebecca Peterson won W100 Cagnes-Sur-Mer in May 2018.

Johanna Larsson also collected two W100 tiles (in 2012 and 2017), while Sofia Arvidsson was the first to achieve the feat at W100 Poitiers in 2010.

Bjorklund, whose last tournament triumph came 14 months ago on clay at W25 Orlando, rocketed 40 places in the WTA rankings on Monday as a result of her breakthrough triumph, climbing to No. 135 – just 12 spots off the career-high she achieved in June 2022.

Bjorklund heads to Roehampton this week, where she’ll hope to progress through the Wimbledon qualifying event for the second year in a row.

Last year, Bjorklund overcame Sara Errani, Storm Hunter and Maria Lourdes Carle to reach the main event, where she fell to eventual runner-up Ons Jabeur in the first round.
