Tiffon collects second career title at Ferrero's academy
Pol Martin Tiffon won his second career title - and first on home soil – on the ITF World Tennis Tour after beating Argentina’s Marco Trungelliti in the final at M15 Villena.
The 21-year-old Spaniard defeated the Argentine 6-4 6-4 to add to his triumph at M15 Cairo in 2019 and end a run of eight tournaments in which he had failed to surpass the second round.
Tiffon was presented with the title by former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero, who runs his eponymous tennis academy at the venue in Villena.
Elsewhere, after two defeats in M15 finals in Sharm El Sheikh over the past month, Vladyslav Orlov made it third time lucky at the Egyptian tournament after beating Erik Crepaldi 6-0 6-3 in the title decider on Sunday.
As a result, the 25-year-old Ukrainian collected his third professional singles title – and first of the season.
Bulgaria’s Adrian Andreev and Brazilian Mateus Alves, both 19, will contest the men’s final at M15 Heraklion on Monday after the title match was delayed due to rain.
Andreev is seeking the first professional title of his career, while Alves is looking to win his second singles triumph on the ITF World Tennis Tour and add to his victory at M15 Cancun last year.
