The Confederation of African Tennis becomes Tennis Africa
The Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), the organisation that has governed tennis on the continent for more than half a century, today became Tennis Africa.
In a decision made at the General Assembly last December, the new era brings a distinctive visual identity for African tennis and a clear direction for the years ahead.
“Tennis Africa is not a new organisation looking for an identity,” Tennis Africa President Jean-Claude Talon said on Tuesday. “It is the same body that has already helped produce the continent’s champions, with a name that better serves its mission.

“Today is the beginning of a more modern, more united African tennis. Tennis Africa is our way of saying it clearly: this is one family, one continent and one ambition”
With the change in name comes a symbolic new logo, which cleverly integrates the shape of the continent with a gradient of colours that symbolises the diversity and unity within Tennis Africa’s 54 member nations.
Tennis Africa’s long-term vision is to become the fastest-growing and most influential region in the sport. Key to achieving this is the Tunis-based organisation’s work in empowering its individual federations and creating lasting opportunities for the next generation.
