Tabur snaps up fifth title in six months on the ITF World Tennis Tour
Clement Tabur continued his trophy-laden season on the ITF World Tennis Tour, winning his fifth men’s title since April on Bulgarian soil at M25 Pazardzhik.
The 23-year-old Frenchman defeated home favourite Yanaki Milev 6-2 3-6 6-2 for his eighth ITF singles crown overall and his fifth on clay this year – putting him into third place for the most ITF men’s titles in 2023 behind Dragos Nicolae Madaras (10) and Goncalo Oliveira (8).
Tabur has enjoyed a very positive six months at ITF level and, having also finished runner-up at the ATP Challenger in Todi in August, he achieved a career-high ranking of No. 258 in September.
The Frenchman is a former junior world No. 10, with his highlights including a run to the quarter-finals of the boys’ singles at 2017 Roland Garros and a bronze medal alongside Hugo Gaston in the boys' doubles at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
Elsewhere, Belgian Gilles Arnaud Bailly climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 637 last week and the former junior world No. 1 celebrated by promptly winning his second title - and biggest yet - in the men’s game.
Bailly saw off seven Italians in a row in straight sets to win the title – his second as a pro - as a qualifier at M25 Santa Margherita di Pula.
It is the latest mini-landmark for Bailly, who earned a slice of history for his nation last December when he became the first Belgian male - across any category - to be crowned an ITF World Champion after clinching the junior year-end world No. 1 spot.
Bailly won three titles and finished runner-up in the boys’ singles at both Roland Garros and US Open in a standout 2022 season in junior competition.
