On song Swan glides to second W60 title in Slovakia
Katie Swan continued her excellent recent form by securing her 12th singles title - and the joint-biggest of her career to date - on the ITF World Tennis Tour at W60 Trnava.
The 23-year-old Brit, who also won W60 Lexington at the start of August, wasted little time in repeating that feat with a 6-1 3-6 6-4 victory over China’s Wang Xinyu in the title decider in Slovakia.
Swan has won 13 of the 14 matches she has contested since falling to Marta Kostyuk in the first round at Wimbledon - a run that also included a semi-final finish at the WTA tournament in Chennai in September, where illness ultimately curtailed her week.
She climbed to a new career-high of No. 118 in the WTA rankings on Monday.

Meanwhile, Marcela Zacarias won the biggest tournament of the week on the ITF World Tennis Tour – defeating American Katrina Scott 6-1 6-2 to triumph at W80 Rancho Santa Fe.
It was her first title in almost three years, her first triumph outside her native Mexico since 2016, and her first title above W25 level.
In securing her 17th ITF singles crown, Zacarias climbed 63 places to a career-high No. 166 in the world.
Elsewhere, Zhuoxuan Bai won her second straight title and first at W25 level in Hua Hin in what was just her fifth event of the year. The 19-year-old Chinese player enjoyed a prolific end to the year in 2021, winning five titles across the eight events she entered, and appears to be heading in a similar direction since starting her season in August.
There were also wins for Kayla Day, Priscilla Hon, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (pictured below), as well as 17-year-old Swiss Celine Naef, the current junior world No. 6, who won her second professional singles crown at W15 Reims.
