Krutykh claims biggest title of his career in Antalya
Ukraine’s Oleksii Krutykh has enjoyed a fine run of form in Turkey, culminating in the 22-year-old’s first M25 title in Antalya at the weekend.
Having touched down in Turkey ahead of Ukraine’s Davis Cup by Rakuten World Group I tie against Barbados, Krutykh has lost just one of his last 11 matches.
The Ukrainian picked up an important win for his country in the opening match of their Davis Cup tie, that was played on neutral ground, defeating Barbadian Darian King 6-2 6-1.
He then proceeded to reach the final of an M25, falling to Bosnia’s Nerman Fatic, before clinching his maiden M25 title with a 6-2 4-6 6-2 win against Britain’s Billy Harris in the final on Sunday.
Another player who won an M25 title for the first time at the weekend was 20-year-old Leandro Riedi.
The Swiss former Top 10 junior picked up the biggest win of his fledgling career, defeating Britain’s Alastair Gray 6-2 6-2 in the final at M25 Trimbach.
Australia’s Rinky Hijata notched a sixth career title, but the first of 2022, with a 6-1 7-5 win against USA’s Keegan Smith in the final at M25 Bakersfield.
There were also M25 titles for Argentina’s Alejo Lorenzo Lingua Lavallen, Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan and Spain’s Javier Barranco Cosano.
