Brenda Fruhvirtova has been named ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month after a sublime August in which she collected three titles – including the biggest of her fledgling career to date.

Sixteen-year-old Fruhvirtova won silverware at W60 Hechingen, W25+H Leipzig and W40 Oldenzaal during the month as part of a scintillating run that saw her go 15-0 in matches and 30-0 in sets across the three clay court tournaments she contested.

She opened August in style with victory on German soil in Hechingen, defeating Slovenia’s Ziva Falkner 6-3 6-1 in the title match, and immediately backed that up the following week 500km North with victory over Darya Astakhova in the Leipzig final.

Her attempt to qualify for a Grand Slam for the third time (having achieved the feat at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros this year) ended with a swift 6-1 6-2 defeat to Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima, but the Czech soon shrugged off that disappointment at the end of the month on Dutch soil.

She saw off home hope Anouk Koevermans 7-5 6-2 in the final at W40 Oldenzaal to take her overall title tally on the ITF World Tennis Tour to 12.

Fruhvirtova, who has already won 11 clay titles and one hard court crown while still only 16-years-old, is the youngest player ever to have achieved double figures for ITF singles titles won.

Only two other women (Sania Mirza and Latisha Chan) have amassed 12 titles before turning 18. Fruhvirtova, of course, has racked up a dozen before even remotely close to her 17th birthday.

Currently the world No. 129, Fruhvritova is projected to surpass her career-high-ranking (120) following the conclusion of the US Open.

“Always keep pushing and keep going,” she posted on Instagram after her latest triumph – a simple mantra that sums up the special Czech's relentless desire to progress through the ranks in professional tennis at such a young age.
