Corwin collects first ITF World Tennis Tour title in Egypt
The ITF World Tennis Tour crowned another first-time tournament winner in November as USA’s Felix Corwin claimed the M15 Sharm El Sheikh title in Egypt.
Corwin, 24, defeated top seed Alessandro Bega in the semi-finals before beating Czech Republic’s David Poljak 4-6 6-2 7-6(4) in his first final of the season, and was presented with the trophy by Swedish tennis legend Bjorn Borg.
In the week’s only M25 event in Vale Do Lobo, Portugal, Poland’s Kacper Zuk ended local wild card Nuno Borges’ run in the final with a 6-4 6-3 victory.
Zuk has now collected four M25 titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2020, adding his triumph in Portugal to victories in Barnstaple, Poznan and Hamburg.
One week on from his own maiden ITF World Tennis Tour title win, Thiago Agustin Tirante was denied back-to-back M15 titles in Monastir by serial winner Skander Mansouri of Tunisia.
Mansouri, who defeated the 19-year-old Argentine 4-6 6-3 7-6(5), has now claimed five M15 Monastir titles, having won four in 2019.
In Greece, French qualifier Evan Furness claimed the M15 Heraklion title with a 6-3 1-6 6-3 victory over Croatian No.3 seed Matija Pecotic in the final. The triumph was Furness’s first title win of the season, and his fourth overall.
