Lois Boisson continued her fine run of form on the ITF World Tennis Tour by winning her third consecutive title – and biggest of her career – at W75 Bellinzona on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Frenchwoman defeated Hungary’s Anna Bondar 6-3 2-6 6-4 in the final of the Swiss clay court event to extend her streak to 15 successive match-wins.

The victory adds to her back-to-back triumphs at W35 Alaminos-Larnaca, Cyprus, and W35 Terrassa, Spain, in late March and sees her climb into joint-third place for the most ITF women's singles titles in 2024 (behind only Lucija Ciric Bagaric and Tereza Valentova, who have each won four).

Boisson, who was ranked outside the Top 300 in the first week of February, is now on the brink of a place in the Top 200 after rocketing to a career-high No. 205.

Her clay form bodes well in the run up to her home Grand Slam at Roland Garros, where she will be hoping to make her mark in front of a home crowd.

Boisson has been awarded a wildcard into qualifying for the second Grand Slam of the year in each of the last three editions of the event, reaching the second round of the qualifying event on her debut in 2021, but falling in the opening round in both 2022 and 2023.

China’s Xinyu Gao was also among the title winners this weekend, defeating compatriot Sijia Wei to win her 14th ITF singles title – and her second of 2024 - at W50 Shenzhen.

Elsewhere, Sada Nahimana’s dream of winning a singles title on home soil in Burundi continued to elude her after she fell at the quarter-final stage in the second of back-to-back events at W35 Bujumbura, but the 22-year-old could celebrate a ‘priceless’ success in the doubles.

Having fallen in the final the previous week alongside Latvian partner Kamilla Bartone, the duo bounced back to win on Saturday, beating Naima Karamoko and Diana Marcinkevica 4-6 6-3 10-7.

It was Nahimana’s fifth ITF doubles title overall (and Bartone’s sixth) – and sparked wild celebrations among the home fans, who have relished the opportunity to see high-level professional tennis on home soil - and indeed celebrate the success of one of their own.

W35 Bujumbura had returned to the ITF World Tennis Tour calendar over the past fortnight following the successful inaugural staging of back-to-back women's professional tournaments last year.
