21 countries set to contest 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Turkiye
Teams from 21 countries are set to contest the 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup World Group when the ITF’s flagship wheelchair tennis team event returns to Antalya, Turkiye, for the fourth time from 7 to 12 May.
Titles will once again be decided in men’s, women’s, quad and junior events, with the junior event once again featuring many players who continue their development through the ITF Junior Wheelchair Tennis programmes and events supported by the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
While Antalya has hosted the World Group three times previously – in 2010, 2013 and 2015 - 2024 will be the first time that the World Group has been staged at the Megasaray Tennis Academy.
44 teams, 21 nations set to vie for four titles
With 16 teams entered for the men’s draw, 12 teams entered for the women’s draw and eight teams entered for both the quad and junior draws, teams and players from 21 countries will be in action in Antalya, including many of the sport’s top ranked stars from the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
The full entry list of 44 teams from 21 countries can be found here.
Brazil, Great Britain, Japan and South Africa share the distinction of having teams entered in each of the men’s, women’s, quad and junior draws, with South Africa’s men’s and women’s teams having advanced from the BNP Paribas World Team Cup African Qualification.
Great Britain’s quad team returns to World Group competition after being victorious at the European Qualification.
Four men’s teams, four women’s teams and two quad teams came through regional qualification earlier this year.
While South Africa’s men’s and women’s teams won at the African Qualification, Chile’s men’s team and Colombia’s women’s team progressed to the World Group after winning at the Americas Qualification.
Germany’s men’s team and Switzerland’s women’s team both progressed to the World Group after being victorious alongside Great Britain’s quad team at the European Qualification.
Meanwhile, the men’s team from China, P.R. and Thailand's women’s team won at the Asian Qualification, alongside Chile’s quad team, who came out on top after a combined quad qualification event that also included teams from the Americas and Oceania. Chile will now have a team contesting the quad World Group for the first time.
