On-form Echargui adds second title - in four finals - to 2023 haul
Moez Echargui muscled his way on to the podium for the most match-wins on the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2023 after claiming his second title of the year at M15 Monastir.
The 30-year-old Tunisian defeated Frenchman Adrien Gobat 6-0 7-6(3) in the final on Sunday to improve his win-loss record for the year to 17-3, putting him behind only Dragos Nicolae Madaras (21-1) and Gabi Adrian Boitan (20-2) for most ITF matches won this season.
Echargui, who climbed to a career-high No. 335 in the world on Monday, has reached four finals since the turn of the year, having also finished runner-up at back-to-back M25 events in Monastir in February.
All eight of Echargui's ITF singles titles have come on Tunisian soil and, though Monastir has hosted 13 ITF men's events already this year, he is the only home-grown player from the nation to win a title in 2023.
