MT400 Ra'anana: Preview
The MT400 Ra'anana in Israel promises to be a celebration of tennis.
Held at the Tennis Club In Ra'anana, the tournament is one of the showpiece events on the ITF calendar in Israel. Today’s MT400 grade is testament to the hard work of tournament director Roni Green, alongside the Israeli Tennis Federation, to make this a landmark event of the year.
Green, who has run the tournament since 2020, said that "the line up for this year is great", notably featuring some of Israel's top players.
After its first edition in 2013, the MT400 Ra'anana has gone from strength to strength each year since. The 2023 event, taking place between 24-28 May, boasts a number of international players from as far afield as Paraguay, Australia and Moldova.
Although Israel is only hosting four ITF events on the Masters Tour in 2023, the country boasts three MT400 level tournaments. This reflects the popularity and strength of the draws on offer in this part of the world, offering an exciting opportunity for players to travel somewhere different. The Tennis Club in Ra'anana tournaments offer world class facilities, as Green notes:
"Ra'anana has a big club, 14 courts, a stadium [and] it is a very nice place. Most of the big tournaments in Israel are here."
With temperatures forecast to be breaching 30C in coming weeks, the players will have to work hard on the red clay in Ra'anana to earn the big prizes.
