Gender parity for tennis officials at Paris 2024 Olympics, Paralympics
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and ITF Olympic Committee have appointed an equal number of women and men to officiate as International Technical Officials (ITO) at the Paris 2024 Olympic Tennis and Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Events.
A total of 151 International Technical Officials representing 69 nations and seven regions will officiate 208 Olympic tennis matches across nine days of competition beginning 27 July and ending on 4 August 2024, and the 144 Paralympic wheelchair tennis matches from 30 August to 7 September 2024.
The Paris 2024 ITO team includes the Referee, Assistant Referees, Technical Delegate, Tournament Control, Chief, Chair and Line Umpires and will join forces with National Technical Officials (NTO) appointed by the Federation Française de Tennis (FFT).
Wayne McKewen (AUS) will serve as the Paris 2024 Olympics Referee and Nitin Kannamwar (IND) will return as Referee for the Paralympic Tennis Event, supported by ITF Head of Officials, Iain Smith.
ITF president and IOC member, Dave Haggerty, congratulated the ITO team and said, “Tennis can be proud of the diversity and collective experience these professionals from all corners of the globe bring to the Paris 2024 Games this summer. As guardians of the rules of tennis, it’s the job of the officials to ensure fair play. Their role is fundamental to the integrity of every tennis match that is played for the enjoyment of players and fans alike.”

• 172 Olympians and 96 Paralympians will compete for their country in the tennis events
• 15 Olympic Tennis medals and 18 Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Medals to be awarded
• Player entry rankings cut off for the Olympic Tennis Event is Monday June 10
• Player entry deadline for the Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event is Monday July 15
• Official player entry lists will be published by 8 July for the Olympic Tennis Event and by 5 August for Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis
• Paris 2024 is the 37th year of Olympic Tennis and 33rd year of Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis events
