Crete is calling: Masters World Championships (75–85+) head to Greece
For the first time, Greece will host the World Tennis Masters World Championships, with the 2026 event taking place at the Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort in Crete.
The 2026 World Team Championships will bring together the world’s leading nations across the 75+, 80+ and 85+ age categories.
Staged across the resort’s 26 clay courts, the event promises to be a celebration of tennis for life, showcasing the skill, commitment and competitive spirit of players continuing to represent their nations at the highest level.
The team competition begins on Sunday 18 October and concludes with the finals on Friday 23 October, with 78 teams from 26 nations competing across six events.
The field features defending champions, established Masters stars and players making their World Team Championships debuts, setting the stage for six days of international team tennis on the Greek island.
In the women’s competition, the USA will defend the Queen’s Cup (75+) after overcoming Australia in the decisive tie in 2025. Led by the formidable pairing of Gwenda Ward and Judy Dixon, the USA will face strong competition from Great Britain, spearheaded by reigning 75+ singles world champion Marjory Love, as well as Australia and France.
France will target a fourth consecutive Doris Hart Cup (80+) title, having retained the trophy in 2025. They return with Gail Benedetti, Sylvie Galfard Kirsten and Michele Bichon, while their leading rivals — particularly the USA and Great Britain — will be determined to end a run of dominance stretching back to 2023.
The USA remain the team to beat in the Angela Mortimer Cup (85+). Having won every edition since the competition was introduced in 2019, they will arrive in Crete seeking to extend their remarkable unbeaten run, with the formidable foursome of Donna Fales, Roz King, Dorothy Wasser and Sheila Palmer in the line-up.
On the men’s side, Spain will defend the Bitsy Grant Cup (75+) after defeating Germany in the 2025 final. With a record 24 teams participating in this event, the champions can expect another demanding test, particularly from Australia, France and Germany.
The USA will pursue a fifth successive Gardnar Mulloy Cup (80+) title after completing a celebrated four-peat in 2025. Michael Beautyman and Jimmy Parker headline a team that will face stiff competition from Great Britain, Italy and France.
Spain, meanwhile, return as defending Lorne Main Cup (85+) champions, having lifted the trophy for the first time last year. Germany and USA are expected to be among their leading challengers.
The Masters World Individual Championships will follow the team event from Saturday 24 October to Saturday 31 October, with competition across the 75+, 80+, 85+ and 90+ age categories.
