In 2025 the NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters and UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters broke new ground, when the ITF's year-end championships on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour were held in China for the first time.
Japan's Tokito Oda and Yui Kamiji both retained their men's and women's Singles Masters titles to each become three-time champions, while Sam Schroder became a two-time quad singles champion at the end of seven days of fantastic tennis contested by 34 players at the Huzhou International Clay Tennis Center.
History was made in the women's doubles as Zhu Zhenzhen became the first Chinese player to win either an NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters or UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters title as she partnered Kamiji to victory. Meanwhile, there was another new champion in both the men's doubles and the quad doubles.
Ruben Spaargaren of the Netherlands partnered Spain's Martin de la Puente to the men's doubles title, with De La Puente becoming one half of the Doubles Masters winning partnership for the third time in four years.
Guy Sasson of Israel became a new name on the quad doubles roll of honour to cap a memorable first season playing alongside Niels Vink of the Netherlands, who became one half of the winning quad doubles partnership for the sixth year in a row.

The ITF signed a hosting agreement with the CSCEC Huaxia (Beijing) Industrial Operation Management Co., Ltd., who hosted the event at the newly opened Huzhou International Clay Tennis Center in Zhejiang Province - the largest indoor clay court facility in Asia - which was officially inaugurated by Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi in March 2025.
China Open Training Pro (COTP), professional organisers of international tennis in China, served as the official promoter of the event. A formal ceremony took place at the ITF headquarters in Roehampton on Friday 4 July 2025 to recognise the contributions of both organisations, notably the efforts of Mr Yun Chuan, successfully introducing this event to China for the first time, and of the Enrique Esteire Perla in Memoriam Association which has played a key role to facilitate the burgeoning partnership.
China’s profile in wheelchair tennis has grown significantly over the last 12 months, highlighted by Guo Luoyao and Wang Ziying’s bronze medal in women’s doubles at Paris 2024 - the nation’s first Paralympic wheelchair tennis medal. Wang and compatriot Li Xiaohui, who together won the 2025 Australian Open and 2025 Wimbledon Women’s Wheelchair Doubles title, are currently ranked inside the world’s top five in singles and are strong contenders for qualification for the 2025 Masters. At the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Wang Ziying won the singles championship, once again making a historical breakthrough for Chinese wheelchair tennis.
