Overview

Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam after lifting his maiden Australian Open title, surpassing Don Budge who achieved the feat at the aged of 22 years, 355 days in 1938.

The 22-year-old won the seventh major title of his career a mere six years after making his professional debut, and took his overall record in Grand Slam finals to 7-1.

In beating Djokovic 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5, he clinched the Career Grand Slam two years ahead of his compatriot Rafael Nadal, who achieved the feat aged 24.

The 24-time Grand Slam winning Djokovic, meanwhile, had completed the feat at the age of 29. Indeed as a further mark of Alcaraz's remarkable rate of progress, Djokovic had one just one Grand Slam title before turning 23.
