Former world No. 26 Lukas Rosol ended a four-year wait for singles silverware after triumphing on the ITF World Tennis Tour at M25 Muttenz.

The 37-year-old Czech dipped down to compete at ITF-level last week following a run of first round defeats at ATP Challenger level.

The move paid off as Rosol secured five confidence-boosting wins at the Swiss clay court tournament, including a 6-3 6-4 victory over Frenchman Maxime Mora in the title match.

Rosol, perhaps best-known for defeating world No. 2 Rafael Nadal in a five-set epic at Wimbledon in 2012, has suffered first-round losses at ATP Challenger events in Italy, Slovakia and Great Britain in recent months.

He did, however, qualify for Wimbledon this year, making his first appearance in the main draw at the All England Club since 2017, but fell to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the opening round.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Kalin Ivanovski enjoyed a milestone victory on the ITF World Tennis Tour over the weekend after claiming his first professional singles title at M15 Monastir.

The North Macedonian, who got into the tournament by virtue of his junior ranking, defeated Aziz Kijametovic 4-6 6-4 6-1 in the final just two weeks after reaching his first pro semi-final on Austrian soil at M15 Kottingbrunn.

The former junior world No. 17 made headlines in the boys’ singles at Wimbledon this year when he won his second-round match courtesy of a cheeky underarm serve on match point.
