Former junior world No. 20 Matheus Pucinelli De Almeida continued his breakthrough season on the ITF World Tennis Tour after winning his second career title at M15 Cairo over the weekend.

The 20-year-old Brazilian overcame Simon Ivanov in the final after the Bulgarian retired at 7-5 1-0, handing Pucinelli De Almeida his second ITF singles crown in two months – having won his first at M15 Antalya in March.

Pucinelli De Almeida has played exclusively on clay this year, amassing a 31-9 win-loss record and reaching three finals to nudge his ranking up to No. 567.

As he looks to climb the professional ranks, the Brazilian is hoping to emulate an impressive junior career that took in four singles titles and saw him win the boys’ doubles at 2019 Roland Garros alongside Thiago Agustin Tirante.

Fellow 20-year-old Luca Potenza, of Italy, also recorded a second ITF title triumph after overcoming Lucas Catarina 1-6 6-2 6-1 in the final at M15 Monastir. The win added to his maiden win at the same venue last September.

Ben Patael won an all-Israeli final on home soil in Ramat Hasharon, defeating Yshai Oliel 6-4 6-4 for his fourth ITF singles crown and first since October 2018. Three of the 23-year-old’s four titles have come in his home country.

There were also wins for Switzerland’s Johan Nikles on Spanish soil at M15 Majadahonda (Madrid) and Austria’s Alexander Erler at M15 Antalya.

Erler, 23, overcame 19-year-old Adrian Andreev 6-4 6-1, denying the former junior world No. 2 a third professional singles title and claiming his seventh in the process, while Nikles defeated Nuno Borges 6-4 6-3 for his fourth career singles title.

The action continues on the ITF World Tennis Tour this week, with seven men’s events taking place – including five on clay and two on hard courts. You can follow all the latest scores here.
