Pakistan vice president praises SANDEVER superkits
Pakistan Tennis Federation’s vice president Muhammed Khalid Rehmani has thanked the ITF and Global Development Partner SANDEVER for providing the beach tennis equipment that was used in a one-day tournament in Karachi last month.
Pakistan was one of 40 nations that applied for a beach tennis superkit and the federation put it to good use at the first Karachi Tennis Association Beach Tennis Tournament on 27 November.
The kits, which include all the necessary equipment (one court, four paddles and six balls) to allow nations to start playing, were sent out earlier this year as part of the ITF's Beach Tennis Global Development Programme.
Beach tennis first made an appearance in Pakistan back in 2013 during the Karachi Beach Games, but Rehmani said the quality of the SANDEVER kits that were sent “made this event an historic and significant move in the right direction”.
Twelve men and five women competed in the day-long event at Clifton Beach, with Eibad Sarwar emerging victorious in singles and doubles, alongside Muhammad Ali.
Rehmani added: “I would like to thank the ITF and SANDEVER for providing beach tennis equipment to the Pakistan Tennis Federation. From now on, beach tennis events will be an integral part of all national or Sindh ranking tournaments.”
He went on to say that his ambition was to find the next generation of beach tennis players who could represent Pakistan at the Asian Beach Games and Commonwealth Beach Games.
The ITF Beach Tennis Tour comprises over 300 tournaments in 37 countries, with the sport's flagship competitions including the ITF Beach Tennis World Championships and the ITF Beach Tennis World Cup, as well as regional Championships in Europe, Africa and the Americas.
