Olympic Esports Series Qualifier to begin in Tennis Clash
The Olympic Esports Series 2023 Qualifier will begin in Tennis Clash on Thursday 4 May, with tennis fans around the world encouraged to take part – and be in with a chance of qualifying for the Olympic Esports Series Finals in Singapore in June.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is among a number of International Federations and games publishers to have collaborated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the Olympic Esports Series 2023.
The Olympic Esports Series is a global virtual and simulated sports competition created by the IOC. The Qualifiers take place across 10 different sports, with the best-performing players advancing to the Finals, which will be held inaugural Olympic Esports Week on 22-25 June 2023 in Singapore.
Tennis Clash players will compete on a new Olympic Esports Series 2023 court (pictured above), which has been specially designed for this event.
A 48-hour preliminary stage will take place between from Thursday 4 May (at 17:00 GMT) to Saturday 6 May (at 17:00 GMT). This will immediately be followed by a second stage, also of 48 hours, from Saturday 6 May (at 17:00 GMT) to Monday 8 May (at 17:00 GMT). In each of the two stages, players will be required to compete in between 10 and 20 matches.
The top players will advance to final qualifying on Wednesday 10 May – and the best five players overall will qualify for the Olympic Esports Finals 2023, where they will compete alongside one wild card from Singapore.
Tennis Clash is developed by Wildlife Studios, with whom the ITF has worked in partnership since 2021 when it first brought the Billie Jean King Cup, the women's World Cup of Tennis, to mobile devices.
