Aidan McHugh bounced back from a three-match losing run to collect his fifth career title – and first of the year – on the ITF World Tennis Tour at M25 Glasgow.

The 22-year-old Brit saw off Poland's Filip Peliwo 7-6(4) 6-4 to secure a hometown triumph – his first ITF title on home soil and first tournament victory since he collected the M25 Santo Domingo crown in June 2021.

McHugh has competed primarily on the ATP Challenger Tour in recent months and will hope this triumph can provide a springboard on to greater heights.

A former boys’ world No. 8, McHugh enjoyed an impressive junior career - highlighted by a run to the semi-finals at the 2018 Australian Open.

McHugh becomes the fourth different Brit to win a men’s singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour this month – after Arthur Fery (M25 Sheffield), Joshua Goodger (M15 Ithaca) and Harry Wendelken (M25 Sunderland) – and the 14th to win an ITF singles title this year.

It was a good weekend for high-ranking former juniors, with 17-year-old Croatian Dino Prizmic (a former junior world No. 9 and boys' singles semi-finalist at 2022 Roland Garros) claiming his maiden pro title at M15 Heraklion, and former boys’ world No. 3 Martin Damm securing his third ITF singles crown at M25 Harlingen.

Damm stopped the gathering momentum of Bernard Tomic (who has dropped down to the ITF World Tennis Tour in a bid to re-build his career), ending the 30-year-old Australian’s 14-match winning streak with a 6-7(4) 6-3 6-4 victory.
