Masters preview: 2023 ITF World Team Championships (30-35-40-45-50)
A raft of talent will assemble to compete in the 30-35-40-45-50 ITF Masters World Team Championships in Manavgat, Antalya, Türkiye on Sunday.
Set to take place at the all-inclusive Ali Bey Club between 19-24 March 2023, this year’s showpiece Masters event boasts a record 161 entered teams.
In an exciting addition, the 2023 World Championships welcomes the 30 Team Cups for the first time.
Led by host nation Turkey, who have entered teams in each age category, the 30 Team Cups have an impressive 15 nations entered.
In the Men’s Cup, Germany look the team to beat with a formidable line-up – including two former top 700 professional players, Lukas Ollert and Tom Schonenberg.
Germany also lead the way in the Women’s Cup, with No. 1 Anne Schaefer (former 161 WTA) spearheading the German title charge.
Elsewhere, Kazakhstan’s entry into the M35 Italia Cup and M40 Tony Trabert Cup marks the country’s first ever World Team Championships appearance.
In a truly international field, Venezuela are set to compete in the M50 Fred Perry Cup, Japan have entered the W45 Margaret Court Cup and W50 Maria Esther Bueno Cup, and India will be present in five of the ten events.
With over 100 players nominated who previously held an ATP or WTA ranking, the 2023 World Team Championships are guaranteed to showcase high-level tennis.
Italy will aim to retain the W35 Suzanne Lenglen Cup, while Germany are defending the title in both the W40 Young Cup and the W45 Margaret Court Cup. The USA boast another strong team in their bid to hold onto the W50 Maria Esther Bueno Cup.
On the men’s side, France will be among the favourites to repeat a treble of victories in the M35 Italia Cup, M45 Dubler Cup and M50 Fred Perry Cup, while Italy field the same team that won the M40 Tony Trabert Cup in 2022.
The 2023 ITF 30-35-40-45-50 World Individual Championships runs from 25 March – 1 April following the Teams event. All draws and links will be posted here once available:
