Frenchman Matteo Martineau and Austria’s Alexander Erler won the two biggest men’s tournaments of the week - and their first singles titles since 2019 – after overcoming promising teenage talents at M25 events on the ITF World Tennis Tour on Sunday.

Martineau, 22, won his third career singles crown, and first on clay, at M25 Reus after defeating former junior world No. 5 Emilio Nava 6-4 2-6 7-6(4) in a tense final.

Nineteen-year-old Nava, who had qualified for his first ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami on his last tournament appearance, had been seeking a second ITF singles title a month after winning his first as a qualifier at M15 La Nucia, but narrowly came up short.

Erler, meanwhile, claimed his sixth ITF singles crown, and fifth on clay, on German soil at M25 Meerbusch, overcoming 18-year-old former junior world No. 4 Arthur Cazaux 6-2 4-6 7-5.

Elsewhere, Turkey’s Yanki Erel, 20, jumped 22 places to a career-high ATP ranking of 716 after winning his second career singles title at M15 St. Petersburg.

Nineteen-year-old Eric Vanshelboim avenged his three-set defeat to Ivan Gakhov in the previous week’s final at M15 Shymkent by thumping the Russian 6-1 6-1 for his third career ITF singles title at the same venue on Sunday.

Francesco Passaro won his first career singles title after coming through qualifying to win an all-Italian final at M15 Cairo – the 20-year-old defeating compatriot Giacomo Dambrosi, 19, 6-1 6-4 for the trophy.

Romanian Nicolae Frunza won his seventh ITF title, and first in over two years, at M15 Antalya after beating Gianmarco Ferrari in straight sets, while Franco Agamenone won a rain-delayed final at M15 Monastir on Monday.

The Italian defeated 18-year-old Eliakim Coulibaly 6-2 6-3 in what was a milestone run for the Ivory Coast native, who reached his first professional singles final in just his eighth tournament on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
