An ITF 2 UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour event was integrated at the Rakuten Japan Open for the second time since 2019. World No.1 Shingo Kunieda made a victorious return to the Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo, having won the inaugural wheeelchair event in 2019 and having won his third Paralympic men's singles gold medal at the same venue during Tokyo 2020.
