The 2026 Australian Open Wheelchair Championships saw Niels Vink take the headlines after completing a career Golden Slam with a 6-3 7-6(5) triumph over Sam Schroder.
It was a particularly emotional triumph for Vink, his first major triumph since the passing of his long-term coach Hans Jurgen Striek shortly after the 2025 US Open.
Vink became the fifth player to complete the career Golden Slam in wheelchair singles after Dylan Alcott, Diede de Groot, Shingo Kunieda and Tokito Oda.
There were also triumphs for Oda and Xiaohui Li, who won the men's and women's singles crowns, respectively, after victories over Martin de la Puente and Diede de Groot.
In winning his second Australian Open men's singles title in three years, Oda also became the youngest player to hold all four Grand Slam wheelchair singles titles simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Li became the second Chinese player - man or woman - to win a Grand Slam wheelchair singles title after her countrywoman Wang Ziying won the women's singles title at Wimbledon in 2024.
