Wheelchair Tennis Singles and Doubles Masters to begin in Netherlands
The NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters and ITF Wheelchair Doubles Masters gets underway later this week (30 October - 6 November) in the Dutch city of Oss as the ITF’s year-end championships on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour are held simultaneously in the Netherlands for the first time since 2002.
Thirty eight players from 15 countries will contest the men’s, women’s and quad singles and doubles events, with the first of five days of round-robin group matches starting on Sunday at the Sportcentrum De Rusheuvel.
The world’s top eight men’s, top eight women’s and top eight quad singles players will be the first players to open their title challenges on Sunday, with the first of the ITF Wheelchair Doubles Masters round-robin group matches set to begin a week today.
The top two players in each of the two round-robin groups in the men’s, women’s and quad singles will go forward to contest the semi-finals on the sixth of the eight days of competition, when the top two doubles teams in each of the men’s and women’s doubles round-robin groups will also meet to decide the finalists.
The top eight men’s doubles partnerships and top six women’s doubles partnerships will set out in a bid to claim the ITF Wheelchair Doubles Masters titles, while the top two of the four partnerships after the quad doubles round-robin will go forward to the quad doubles final.
The ITF Wheelchair Doubles Masters finals will take place on Saturday, 5 November, with the NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters finals taking place on Sunday, 6 November.
