Waltert wins biggest title yet at W100 Lisboa

29 Sep 2025

Simona Waltert won her first title of the season and the biggest of her career at W100 Lisboa on Sunday, triumphing over Darja Semenistaja 6-2 6-1 in the final.

The Swiss 24-year-old has shown promising signs in recent weeks, having reached her first WTA 125K final in Slovenia.

This clearly helped fuel her confidence last week in Portugal - where she stormed her way to a first ever W100 title without dropping a set throughout the tournament.

Waltert has now won eight World Tennis Tour titles, and her latest victory means she is likely to make her top 100 debut when the WTA rankings are updated on Wednesday.

The future is looking increasingly bright for the Swiss player.

Elsewhere, Nao Hibino won her first title since 2023 at W100 Incheon, defeating Eunhye Lee 7-5 7-6 in the final.

The Japanese 30-year-old has won 13 titles throughout her career, with 10 coming on the World Tennis Tour.
