Voting open for ITF Wheelchair Player Council

Nominations have been received for the next cohort of players, ex-players and coaches to form the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Player Council, with voting open until December 3.  

The purpose of this Player Council is to: 

  • represent the interests of all players across all divisions, rankings and world regions involved in ITF Wheelchair Tennis Competitions
  • advise and make recommendations to the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee on all issues of concern to players including but not limited to the ITF Rules and Regulations. 

The two-year tenure of the first council comes to an end on 31 December 2020

Player Council nominations are now in for the following roles: 


7 Current Players
A Current Player is defined as having a 2020 IPIN membership and a current ITF wheelchair tennis ranking

1 Former Player
A Former Player is defined as a player who has not competed in any ITF sanctioned tournaments in the last two years, and/or has officially retired with the ITF. They must have previously competed in one or more of the Paralympics, BNP Paribas World Team Cup, UNIQLO Doubles Masters or NEC Singles Masters

1 Coach
A Coach is defined as holding a national coaching qualification, and must have coached or be coaching a player within the top 100 men or top 50 Women or Quads in the ITF Singles Ranking

The Player Council must include at least one current player from each division; at least two current players of each gender; at least one player from each international region (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia/Oceania); and at least one player from the following ranking ranges at the start of the election period: 1-10, 11-40, and 41+.


Nominations & Election timetable
 

Nominations open: Monday 9 November
Nominations close: Monday 23 November
Voting opens: Thursday 26 November
Voting closes: Thursday 3 December
Announcement of Player Council: Friday 11 December
