Vanlangendonck, Chaudhari and Bobrov clinch first ITF titles of 2023
The ITF World Tennis Tour crowned its first three singles champions of the new year on Sunday, with triumphs for Eliessa Vanlangendonck, Vaidehi Chaudhari and Bogdan Bobrov.
All three collected wins at the tour’s entry-level, with Belgian Vanlangendonck winning a second career title at W15 Monastir, Indian Chaudhari winning her first professional singles title on home soil at W15 Gwalior, and Bogdan Bobrov claiming a fifth career singles crown and first at M15 Monastir.
Chaudhari and Bobrov enjoyed an especially productive week, with both also coming away with doubles titles.
While several trophies have already been dished out, the 2023 season gets fully underway this week at W60 Canberra in Australia, where the likes of Diane Parry, Eva Lys, Daria Snigur, Katie Boulter, Heather Watson and Jodie Burrage are all in action in the build up to the Australian Open.
This week also sees the first of the new W40 category events on the ITF World Tennis Tour, which help provide more playing opportunities at a higher level, and bridge the gap between the lower and mid-level professional events.
W40 Nonthanburi kicks things off for events of this stature, with five top 300 players taking part in the Thai city this week.
