Tim Van Rijthoven claimed his eighth professional singles title in the marquee men’s tournament of the week on the ITF World Tennis Tour at M25 Biel.

The 23-year-old Dutchman overcame a host of talented youngsters on the way to clinching his first title in 23 months with a 6-2 6-1 victory over Czech Jiri Lehecka.

Van Rijthoven scored wins over five players who have ranked in the Top 10 on the ITF junior tour over the last couple of years – including former junior world No. 2 Adrian Andreev and fellow emerging talents Leandro Riedi, Arthur Cazaux, Otto Virtanen and Lehecka in subsequent rounds.

Elsewhere, Petros Chrysochos won his first title of 2021 – and ninth ITF triumph overall – after beating Italian Mattia Bellucci 6-0 6-2 in the final at M15 Sharm El Sheikh.

Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha doubled his career title haul after winning at M15 New Delhi.

The 25-year-old Indian (whose previous triumph came in Indonesia in 2018) defeated Oliver Crawford 6-3 7-6(5) in the final to deny his American opponent a second consecutive title on Indian soil - a week after his win at M15 Pune.

Korea’s Seong Chan Hong won his 11th ITF singles title after winning at M15 Antalya, while former world No. 78 Nicolas Kicker collected a 14th career title - and first since October 2017 – after winning an all-Argentine final at M15 Villa Maria.

Tunisian Aziz Dougaz continued his good form on home soil by winning his second title of the year at M15 Monastir. Dougaz’s 6-3 6-4 win over Italian Franco Agamenone in the title match was his sixth career singles title and his fourth at the Monastir tournament.
