Timofeeva wins first title in 2 years at W100 Figueira da Foz

29 Jul 2025

Maria Timofeeva claimed her first title in two years on Sunday, triumphing over Alina Korneeva 6-3 6-0 in the W100 Figueira da Foz final.

Timofeeva, whose last last title came at WTA Budapest 250 in July 2023, was in fine form all week in Portugal - storming to the title without dropping a set. Not only this, she did so from qualifying and lost no more than three games in a set.

The 21-year-old reached her career-high of world No. 93 in 2024, and she displayed plenty of that form and more during a dominant week.

Despite dropping down the rankings since then, Timofeeva is now back inside the top 200 and will look to continue her resurgence with US Open qualifying to come later in the year.

She has now won seven titles in her career, with six coming on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Elsewhere, Caty McNally won a second consecutive title at W100 Evansville - beating rising star Darja Vidmanova 7-5 6-4 in the final.

McNally also won the title without dropping a set, continuing her excellent form after taking home the crown at WTA Newport 125 at the start of July.

The 23-year-old American, who was the only player to take a set off Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon this year, is now on a ten-match winning streak - putting her in a great position as the US hard court season gets underway.
