Dressed vividly in matching outfits, the German brothers Tobias and Sebastian Geigle were a striking presence at the 2023 ITF Masters World Individual Championships (30-35-40-45-50).

Whether dressed in gingham-patterned shorts or electric purple shirts decorated with skulls, the Geigles were evidently unafraid to stand out on the courts of the Ali Bey Club in Manavgat, Türkiye.

Tobias Geigle explained their choice of outfits. "We like to wear nice outfits during our matches," he told itftennis.com. "It bothers us when the colours do not match. Call it superstitious or whatever".

However, it certainly was not a case of style over substance for the Geigles whose tennis was of the highest quality throughout the World Championships.

Through a combination of powerful shot making and incredible athleticism, the brothers achieved an impressive victory in the Men's 30+ Doubles event.

In doing so, the Geigles became the first siblings ever to win a doubles event at the ITF Masters World Championships.

Tobias explained what it meant to him to win a gold medal alongside his brother. "It’s an unbelievable feeling," he added. "He is obviously not just my doubles partner, but the person who I am closest to. I think it’s one of the reasons which keeps me motivated to play tennis. The fact that I can play doubles with my brother".

The ability to attract players like the Geigles, who both work full-time as tennis coaches in Switzerland, is just one indication of the increasing popularity of the 30+ category of Masters tennis.

"It is great that the ITF offers the 30+ category," said Tobias. "Many players have another full-time job or even families to take care of. Nevertheless, the level is still high, especially at the top of the rankings. However, it is possible even for players who are unable to train every day to play, have fun, and succeed on the Tour.'

Tobias also spoke about how the opportunity to compete at the World Championships provided additional motivation to the brothers during their practice sessions.

"We made sacrifices and pushed ourselves through hard training sessions to be where we are now," he added. "Competing at the World Championships gave us the extra energy to go even further during training".

This hard work has paid off for the Geigles, whose stunning tennis and eclectic outfits have certainly taken the Masters Tour by storm.
