Thai teenager Lanlana Tararudee continued her fine maiden full-season on the ITF World Tennis Tour after claiming the joint-biggest title of her career at W40 Nanchang.

Tararudee, a former top-50 ranked ITF junior, was one of the first players to take advantage of the ITF’s new W40-grade tournaments when she won the title as a wild card at W40 Nonthaburi in January.

The 19-year-old triumphed at that level again in China this weekend with a 6-2 6-3 victory over You Xiaodi - her first title on a clay court.

Tararudee’s triumph was her fourth of the year overall – adding to two further victories at W15 events on a hard court in Asia.

Her rapid progress this season saw her climb to a career-high WTA ranking of No. 258 on Monday – a rise of 381 places since the turn of the year.

Tararudee was one of three winners at ITF W40 events over the weekend, along with Darya Astakhova at W40 Wroclaw and Jana Kolodynska at W40 Arequipa, while there was also a good win for promising young Czech Nikola Bartunkova.

The 17-year-old former junior world No. 8 won her second professional singles title on German clay at W25 Erwitte, overcoming Latvian Daniela Vismane 6-4 6-1 in the final.
