Tagger wins second straight title at W75 Kursumlijska Banja
17-year-old Lilli Tagger continued her exceptional start to her professional career on Sunday, claiming her second straight title at W75 level with a 5-7 6-2 6-2 win over Rada Zolotareva in the Kursumlijska Banja final.
The rising Austrian star has hit the ground running on the World Tennis Tour, with three titles to her name already - which has made a slice of history.
She is now the youngest Austrian player to win three or more ITF World Tennis Tour women’s singles titles since the records began in 1994.
She has also reached four consecutive semi-finals at W75 level, making the final on three of those occasions and winning the title twice.
As a result, Tagger is the first Austrian player to win multiple ITF World Tennis Tour women’s singles titles at W75/$60,000-level or higher as a teenager.
Tagger, who possesses an impressive one-handed backhand, is not just breaking records but is also ascending up the WTA rankings at a rapid rate.
Since the end of July until this week, she has moved up exactly 300 spots from 519 to 219 - having picked up so many point at her previous four W75 events.
It will be fascinating to see the impact Tagger has around the top of the game going forward.
