Super-Seniors World Championships to take centre stage in Mallorca
After the success of the Seniors and Young Seniors World Championships in Croatia over the last month, it is now the turn of the Super-Seniors.
The 2021 ITF Super-Seniors World Team and Individual Championships, which caters for the 65-90 age categories, gets underway on 10 October in Mallorca, Spain, in what will be the first showpiece event for the age group since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 40th edition of the ITF Super-Seniors World Team and Individual Championships will be all the more competitive after the hiatus during 2020, with returning legends such as King Van Nostrand and Leonid Stanislavskyi looking to add to their World Championship trophy hauls.
The team event, which takes place from 10-15 October, will see more than 200 players represent their nations. In total, 80 teams from 23 countries will battle it out for the honours.
France will be looking to defend their 2019 crowns in the Queen’s Cup and the Britannia Cup, while the USA’s absence from the tournament ensures there will be new winners for the Lorne Main Cup, Althea Gibson Cup, Bitsy Grant Cup and the Kitty Godfree Cup.
Denmark, meanwhile, will also bid to repeat their successes of two years ago in the Jack Crawford Cup.
The World Individual Championships follows the team event and runs from 16-23 October, with over 400 players set to compete.
