Suarez Navarro recalls Junior Fed Cup experience

28 Sep 2015

Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro is one of just a host of top players to have competed in Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas and here she recalls the experience:

I remember the Junior Fed Cup. I was lucky enough to play it in 2004. At the time I was about to turn 16 and I was battling away to someday become a professional tennis player and achieve the dream of making a living from what I like doing best; playing tennis. It was at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona and I remember the excitement of all the players.

This is one of the things that I like to highlight about this kind of competition. These tournaments give the players something to be excited about. They ignite the inner flame of the dream you fight for every day, making great sacrifices in search of your goal. It is also amazing to compete in a team at such a young age, because you enjoy yourself while sharing the experiences with the rest of the players. It is something that we really enjoy as players of a sport that is mainly individual.

Also, and this is something that anyone who makes the trip to the Caja Magica for this year's competition can keep in mind, you know that some of the best players from each country in that age group are present and that, undoubtedly, some of them will be on tour in just a few years. In my particular case, I remember that I had the chance to face Denmark and play a match against Caroline Wozniacki. We all know what became of her. So it is a very interesting competition for both the participants and the spectators, who can get to know some of the star players of the future.

Ultimately, the Junior Fed Cup it is a very attractive competition, players come halfway around the world to compete and everyone wants to show what potential they may have despite their youth. I recommend that you make your way to the Caja Magica to enjoy this special event.
