Sorribes Tormo returns to winning ways at W75 Portoroz

21 Apr 2026

Sara Sorribes Tormo's hunt for a first title since August 2023 came to an end on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Spaniard, whose last silverware came at WTA Cleveland 250, reigned supreme at W75 Portoroz with a 6-4 6-1 win over compatriot Leyre Romero Gormaz in the final.

She did it the hard way last week - storming past qualifying before battling her way through the main draw to get her hands on the trophy.

The former world No. 32 returned from a difficult injury layoff in November last season, and is gradually working her back into the form that saw her capture two WTA titles.

She is now up to 13 total professional singles wins, with 11 of these coming on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Sorribes Tormo, often known for her variation and being incredibly tough to break down, will no doubt only improve with the more matches she plays this season.

With the Spaniard back on track in her career, it will be exciting for fans to see if she can return to the heights that saw her around the top of the women's game not so long ago.
