Raphael Collignon completes clay double at M25 Angers
Raphael Collignon is really enjoying the clay this month on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
After securing his first title for nearly two years at M25 Hammamet, the 22-year-old Belgian immediately backed it up with another title at M25 Angers, his sixth singles title overall.
As in the previous week in Tunisia, Collignon defeated veteran Aziz Dougaz in the final, 6-2, 6-4 in the final, extending his win streak to 10.
He dropped just one set en route to the title that will see him re-enter the world’s top 450 at the next ATP ranking update (following this week’s event in Madrid).
Collignon peaked at a career-high ranking of No. 210 in May 2023, but contested just one between July last year and January this year, subsequently falling outside the world’s top 350.
At M15 level, Stefan Popovic secured a clay double on home soil at M15 Kursumlijska Banja.
After winning his second career singles title on 21 April, the 20-year-old Serbian won another title this past Sunday, defeating Mariano Tammaro 6-4, 6-2 in the final, having dropped just two sets in 10 matches across the consecutive trophy runs.
Already at a career-high ranking of No. 523, Popovic is also set to break into the top 450 for the first time next week.
Michael Agwi also claimed a noteworthy title at M15 Meerbusch in Germany, the second of his young career.
The 20-year-old did not drop a set in claiming the title, defeating Germany’s John Sperle 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
Currently ranked world No. 692, Agwi is the only Irish man in the world’s top 1000, and could well climb inside the top 600 off the back of this most recent title.

By winning his first professional title at M15 Oberhaching in February, as a qualifier no less, he became the first Irish player, man or woman, to win an ITF World Tennis Tour singles title for more than five years.
Elsewhere, Paul Jubb claimed his 10th pro singles title by defeating Charles Broom in an all-British final at M25 Nottingham.
Meanwhile Italy’s Andrea Picchione defeated compatriot Federico Iannaccone 6-0, 6-2 in the final on home clay at M25 Santa Margherita di Pula for his first title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
