Puerto Rico, Bahamas and Guatemala make ITF junior team comp progress
Puerto Rico, Bahamas and Guatemala are the latest nations to advance in Billie Jean King Cup Juniors by Gainbridge, Davis Cup Juniors and ITF World Junior Tennis following successful showings at pre-qualifying.
As with their professional equivalents, Billie Jean King Cup Juniors and Davis Cup Juniors have season-long narratives and the quest to find the 2024 world champions is underway. The same applies to ITF World Junior Tennis – the premier international team event in the 14-and-under age category.
The journey to the summit of the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors and Davis Cup Juniors podiums began in Colombo, Sri Lanka last month where pre-qualifying for the Asia/Oceania region took place.
Most recently it was the turn of the North/Central American and Caribbean region to stage their pre-qualifying. Billie Jean King Cup Juniors and Davis Cup Juniors pre-qualifying took place in Dominica Republic and ITF World Junior Tennis pre-qualifying in El Salvador.
Puerto Rico topped the pre-qualifying podium in Bille Jean King Cup Juniors, while Bahamas did likewise in Davis Cup Juniors and Guatemala in both the boys’ and girls’ draws of ITF World Junior Tennis.
These teams now advance to final qualifying for the North/Central American and Caribbean region, which takes place in Orlando, USA from 17-19 April. They will compete with Canada, Mexico and USA.
From final qualifying, two nations from the North/Central America and Caribbean region will advance to the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors and Davis Cup Juniors Finals in November (dates and venue to be confirmed).
Two nations will also advance from the North/Central America and Caribbean region to the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov, Czechia, which will take place from 5-10 August.
