The Masters World Team Championships return to Lisbon and Oeiras in 2026, with players aged 40 and above through to 45 and above set to compete on the Iberian Peninsula.

A celebration of high-quality tennis will begin on Sunday 2 August, as the annual showpiece event gets underway in one of Europe’s oldest capitals and its neighbouring coastal municipality, Oeiras.

The World Team Championships, which conclude on Friday 7 August, will feature 87 teams from 32 nations, all competing to be crowned World Champions. Faroe Islands, which has entered teams in three events, will make its debut in the competition, joining notable entries from Iran, Pakistan, Uruguay and Ukraine.

Held last year in Turkiye, the 2025 edition saw four different nations claim gold across the 40-45+ categories. These age divisions are notoriously strong and, combined with Portugal's popularity as a host destination for players and their families, have produced a predictably deep field.

In the women’s events, USA will aim to repeat their 2025 triumph by reclaiming the Young Cup (40+). Led again by Mariko Fritz-Krockow and Kaysie Smashey, USA will face stiff competition from Italy, spearheaded by former World No. 55 Alberta Brianti, as well as home favourites Portugal, led by Rita Freitas and Catarina Ferreira. Germany, France and Argentina will also be confident of denying USA back-to-back success.

Germany will be heavy favourites to defend their title in the Margaret Court Cup (45+), with Manon Kruse again expected to play a leading role. Spain, led by former doubles World No. 5 Nuria Llagostera, will pose a threat, as will France and the Netherlands, with both teams featuring players with WTA experience.

On the men’s side, Spain present a formidable challenge in the Tony Trabert Cup (40+), spearheaded by former World No. 48 Daniel Gimeno Traver. Italy will arrive looking to defend their title, while Portugal, who boast former World No. 62 Fred Gil in their ranks, will hope to make the most of home support as they pursue a landmark triumph on home soil.

Defending champions Spain are also firm favourites in the Dubler Cup (45+), with Francisco Javier Martinez Baena and Pedro Nieto Orellana at the helm. France, runners-up in 2025, are expected to challenge again, while Pakistan could prove a surprise package, led by Davis Cup stalwart Aqeel Khan and former doubles World No. 8 Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi.

The 2026 Masters World Individual Championships for players aged 40+ and 45+ will then take place the following week, from 8–15 August in Lisbon and Oeiras. The tournament will see many of the stars from the team competition return in pursuit of individual glory, alongside a host of other high-ranked players.
