Pokorny receives Outstanding Achievement Award
Peter Pokorny has joined an exclusive club of just three other players to win the ITF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Seniors Tennis.
The Austrian, who is just the fourth player and the third man to fulfil the criteria for the award, received his trophy at a presentation at the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Monday 8 July.
In order to qualify for the Outstanding Achievement award, players must have won at least 10 World Team titles and at least 10 World Individual singles titles on the Seniors circuit.
Pokorny, who has 12 team and 11 individual singles titles to his name, has also held the the No. 1 ranking in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
"I'm quite proud to have got [the award]," said Pokorny. "Hopefully I can come back [to Wimbledon] again because it has changed so much. Just to discover how everything runs here is incredible compared to the time when I was here."
The ITF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Seniors Tennis, which was first presented in 2012, has also been given to Lorne Maine (CAN), Heide Orth (GER) and King van Nostrand (USA).
