Obituary: Slah Bramly
The ITF is saddened to learn of the death of Slah Bramly, the National Technical Director at Tennis Emirates (UAE), who passed away on 30 September aged 60.
Bramly had held the position of National Technical Director at Tennis Emirates for 19 years, having previously held the same role at the Tunisian Tennis Federation from 1993-2001.
Bramly dedicated his life to the sport, enjoying success on court as both a coach and team captain before turning to the administrative side of the game.
A tournament director at numerous ITF events in both Tunisia and UAE over the past three decades, he captained Tunisia in both the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup (under the competition’s former name; Fed Cup). He led Tunisia’s Davis Cup team to seven victories in 15 ties as captain, and won 12 of 22 ties at the helm in the women’s competition.
An instrumental influence in the development of a number of Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup players in Tunisia and the UAE since 1980, he also helped develop tennis facilities and increase the number of tennis courts in the Tunisian capital: at both the Avenue Sportif De La Marsa Club and the Cite Nationale Sportif De’l Menzah – the home of the Tunisian Tennis Federation (FTT).
