12 Jan 2026

Moise Kouame has kicked off the 2026 season in epic fashion - etching himself into French tennis history.

By winning his first professional title at M25 Hazebrouck on Sunday, the 16-year-old has become the youngest French player to win an ITF World Tennis Tour men's singles title since May 2002 - when 15-year-old Richard Gasquet won a Germany F4 Futures event.

As well as this, he is the youngest player to win a World Tennis Tour men's singles title at M25-level since Carlos Alcaraz in July 2019 at M25 Denia.

Kouame's first title win has instantly put him amongst esteemed company - and he has quickly registered himself as one to watch in the men's game.

His talent is clear to see for anyone who has watched him, and he showcased his athleticism brilliantly last week in what may end up being one of the points of the season.

Kouame reached as high as world No. 13 in juniors, and his best result at a Grand Slam came on home soil where he reached the quarter-finals at the 2024 Junior Roland-Garros.

Having not played on the junior circuit since last year's Roland Garros, it appears Kouame is focusing on the men's game to advance as a player.

Kouame, whose career-high ranking is currently world no. 817, now sits at 645 in the live ATP rankings, so will make a big leap when they are updated next week.

The Frenchman has made a hugely impactful start to 2026, and it will be fascinating to see what else is to come from the promising teenager.
