Mboko continues to thrive with fifth ITF title of 2025

10 Mar 2025

Victoria Mboko continued her flying start to the 2025 season after collecting her fifth title in sixth events on the ITF World Tennis Tour this year.

The 18-year-old Canadian extended her win-loss record for the season to 27-1 after thumping Harriet Dart 6-1 6-1 in the title match at W75 Porto for the biggest win of her fledgling professional career by ranking.

Mboko, who had twice previously beaten a Top 150 player, recorded her two biggest wins yet in the same week with the emphatic victory over Dart following her rallying 3-6 6-2 6-3 victory over world No. 135 Maja Chwalinska in the opening round.

She comfortably tops the list of top performers on the ITF World Tennis Tour this year with 25 main draw match wins – ahead of Joanna Garland (18) – and five titles, two more than Czechs Eliska Tichackova and Anna Siskova, who have each won three crowns in 2025.

In-form Mboko was joined in the winner’s circle this week by Valentina Ryser, who edged past Tereza Valentova for the biggest win of her career at W75 Trnava.

The 23-year-old Swiss won 6-4 3-6 7-6(4) to secure her second title of the season, adding to her W35 Glasgow triumph in February, and her seventh ITF singles crown overall.

Ukraine’s Valeriya Strakhova could also celebrate her biggest triumph yet after she overcame Brazil’s Carolina Alves 5-7 6-2 6-4 in the final at W50 Chihuahua on clay in Mexico.
