Martincova wins first title since 2019 at W75 Prague
It was quite the week for Tereza Martincova on home soil.
The Czech 31-year-old reigned supreme at W75 Prague, coming from qualifying to defeat top seed Sinja Kraus 6-3 6-4 in the final - dropping just one set all week.
It was no doubt a long time coming for Martincova, who's last title came at W25 Essen in June 2019.
It is somewhat surprising that her win in Prague is her best yet given she has a career-high ranking of No. 40, has appeared at every Grand Slam and reached the Wimbledon third round in 2021.
Martincova has resiliently fought through injury setbacks to get to this moment, and she looks to be finding her feet again.
As a result of her latest triumph, she is back inside the top 300 in the WTA rankings at world No. 292 - signifying a fantastic start to the season.
