Marcinko shines in the UAE with W100 Dubai crown
Petra Marcinko leapt in to the WTA Top 100 for the first time after winning her fifth title of the season on Sunday at W100 Dubai.
The 20-year-old Croatian completed a UAE double, having won the title at W75 Fujairah the previous week, and as a result climbed to a career-high No. 82 in the world on Monday.
She put the gloss on a 10-match winning streak with a 6-3 6-3 victory over former world No. 2 Vera Zvonareva - 21-years her senior - in the final.
Marcinko's sublime season has seen her win four marquee titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour - at W100 Landisville, W100 Tyler, W100 Dubai and W75 Fujairah - as well as the WTA125 Rome crown in July.
Marcinko, who won the Australian Open junior crown in 2022, has transitioned to the professional realm in impressive fashion with 12 professional titles since then - 11 of which have come on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
