Tena Lukas clinched her biggest title yet on the ITF World Tennis Tour after beating Barbara Gatica in the final at W60 Rome on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Croatian defeated the fourth-seeded Chilean 6-1 6-4 to win her first title since October 2019, her ninth career title overall, and her first above W25 level.

Lukas’ title follows a good run of form on Croatian soil in which she reached the quarter-finals at W60 Zagreb and back-to-back semi-finals at W25 Split and W25 Osijek.

As a result this week she climbs back to the career-best ranking of No. 241 that she first achieved in October 2018.

American Kayla Day also enjoyed a milestone triumph over the weekend after collecting her first singles title since winning her first five and a half years ago.

The former junior world No. 1, who won the girls' singles title at the US Open in 2016, went on to win her maiden pro title at an ITF $50k tournament in Macon a month later. Her win that day came over now-world No. 9 Danielle Collins.

Day closed in on the WTA Top 100 in 2017 at No. 122, but now finds herself outside the world's Top 300.
