Korpatsch turns 30 in style with W75 Trnava crown
It has been a week of celebration for Tamara Korpatsch.
Just days after marking her 30th birthday, the German ended a 19-month wait for silverware with victory on the ITF World Tennis Tour at W75 Trnava.
Korpatsch defeated Mai Hontama 1-6 6-4 6-4 in the final of the Slovakian clay court event to turn the corner on a difficult spell, following a 2024 season in which she struggled for form following a back injury.
The world No. 148, who has now won 14 professional singles titles including two - her last two prior to this title - at WTA level. All but one of those triumphs has come on clay.
Her triumph was timely ahead of Roland Garros, where she is competing in the qualifying event this week - taking on American Louisa Chirico in the first round on Monday.
Korpatsch has reached the second round at all four majors, but has only twice featured in the main draw in Paris.

Tara Weurth also won a W75 crown this weekend, winning on home clay in Zagreb, while Zarina Diyas ended her month-long stay in Japan in style with victory at W50 Kurume.
Meanwhile, Japan's 18-year-old emerging talent Mayu Crossley headlined four first-time women’s champions on the ITF World Tennis Tour over the weekend.
The former junior world No. 5, who won several significant junior titles including the 2022 Orange Bowl and J500 Criciuma in 2023, achieved a milestone maiden title on her foray into the professional game after winning at W15 Orlando.
Crossley, who finished as runner-up at both W35 Boca Raton and W35 Miami last year, found the third time to be the charm in professional finals as she overcame Italian Francesca Pace 6-1 2-6 6-3 in the title match at W15 Orlando.
Crossley climbed to a career-high No. 485 in the WTA rankings earlier this month.
She was joined by Elena Ruxandra Beretea, of Romania, Ayana Akli, of USA, and Poland’s Anna Hertel in winning a first ITF singles crown this weekend.
